    - Starting salary at 0-2 years previous experience is $3,107.00
    - Salary increase based on more experience/consecutive years in District 207 as coach
    - Stipended position paid over multiple increments, specifics given during interview process

FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: The Winter Guard is an extension of the music and performing arts programs at Grant Community High

School. This group competes against area schools in weekend competitions, performs at select home

games during halftime, and performs at the Winter Pep Rally.


    - The Winter Guard coach collaborates with the Fall Flags coach during the fall season to ensure that students have materials and routines to rehearse during allocated            instructional time

    - The Winter Guard coach ensures that Grant Community High School is represented in a minimum of two competitions during the winter season.

    - The Winter Guard coach attends and the Flags Corps perform at select home Varsity games throughout the regular season and playoff season.

    - The Winter Guard coach coordinates the team in creating and performing a routine for the Winter Pep Rally.

    - The Winter Guard coach facilitates at least two practices per week during the competitive season to prepare routines.

    - The Winter Guard coach ensures that the group is represented at the district’s 8 th  Grade Enrollment Nights at recruitment tables. The coach and student                  members must be present.

    - The Winter Guard coach will collaborate with the Student Activities Director to allocate activity funds for purchases of Flags Corps supplies such as silks, poles,        and costumes.

    - The Winter Guard coach submits a semester calendar of events to the Student Activities Director by December 1st on an annual basis.

    - The Winter Guard coach submits an anticipated budget to the Activities Director by December 1st  annually.

    - The Winter Guard coach submits a roster to the Activities Director by December 10 th  .


    - November: Establish tryouts and tentative practice schedule

    - December: Submit calendar, anticipated budget, and team roster to Student Activities Director begin regular practice schedule

    - January: Participate in both evenings of 8 th  Grade Enrollment Night, Pep Assembly

    - February: Participate in competitions and games

    - March: Participate in competitions and games

    - April: Participate in Championships

    - May: End of the year party, clean tarp and return equipment

Limestone Community High School is currently seeking a color guard and winter guard instructor for the 2017 – 2018 school year.  The LCHS Marching Rockets, color guard, and winter guard are highly successful competitive programs that continue to grow.  The color guard director will assist the band director in all aspects of the color guard. The successful candidate will prepare exercises, techniques, and cleaning routines.  Both the color guard and winter guard meet as daily courses and are a P.E. credit for the students involved.  The color guard and winter guard is a year-long position that is paid an hourly rate for two hours per day and a stipend for all after school activities and contests.


- $15-$18 per hour depending on experience for two hours each school day.
- First semester stipend = $2,981.18
- Second semester stipend = $1,654.12

The successful candidate will:

- Assist in adjudication of new student try-outs
- Create and prepare warm-up routines and technique exercises
- Have the ability to clean choreography given by the choreographer
- Have the ability to blend all skill levels into one successful unit
- Establish clear communication with members and their parents and help organize their efforts in support of the unit
- Maintain clear communication and a cooperative working relationships with band staff and be able to effectively communicate needs/wants for the unit

- Have the ability to effectively create and manage a budget for the color guard program
- Plan daily rehearsals to help students continually grow and improve

Requirements Include:
- Experience as a member of color guards, winter guards, and/or dance.
- Must be available for summer rehearsals beginning in July, band camp, sectionals, and all performances.
- Experience as a color guard member, director,or designer for marching band and/or drum corps

The Southgate Anderson Marching Band is looking for a Color Guard Director for the upcoming 2017 Fall Season. Our color guard has been very competitive in the fall and winter and we are looking for a highly experienced member of the community to help us continue in our excellence. We are the MCGC Scholastic A Champion from 2016 and have been a finalist at the Indianapolis, Mid-East Color Guard Championships, Mid-Atlantic Color Guard Championships, Pittsburgh, Flint among other WGI Regionals as well as a consistent WGI Semi Finalist.
We start spring rehearsals near the end of May, have weekly summer practices, Pre-Camp from August 7-10 and Away Band Camp, August 14-19. All of the dates would be mandatory for our Color Guard Director. There may also be an opportunity to continue working throughout the winter.

- College degree, Texas Teaching Certificate, and Dance certification all preferred but not required.

- Demonstrated success directing and choreographing equipment and dance repertoire for outdoor and indoor color guard activities.

- Strong organizational and instructional skills as demonstrated by groups previously under his/her direction.

- Demonstrated ability to attract and retain members.



- Direct all activities of a 30-50-member color guard within the curriculum and instructional objectives of the band program.

- Serve as the primary instructor for two color guard classes daily.

- Implement a comprehensive equipment technique program as well as a fundamental movement/dance program.

- Participate in all extra-curricular rehearsals, performances, and other activities as required.

- Direct all recruiting efforts with the support of the Director of Bands.

- Design, implement, and direct indoor performances during the second semester that are suitable for presentation in the community in a variety of contexts as ambassadors of the school and the total band program.  This curriculum will develop skills in anticipation of the fall marching season.  Competitive winter guard participation is not required.

- Develop responsible citizens with an emphasis on social and academic integrity and leadership.

- Assist and actively participate in staff marching production meetings and with the development of show concepts

- Assist and cooperate fully and willingly with the band staff in a unified effort to improve the comprehensive band program and to support one another.

- Present a cooperative and supportive image to the public as regards professional relationships.

- Maintain student accountability with regard to performance and participation standards.
