The Glenbard North High School Marching Band is seeking highly qualified candidates for our colorguard coach position. Ideal candidates have previous experience coaching and choreographing as well as performance experience at the high school, collegiate, or drum corps levels. The GBN Marching Band is a non-competitive marching band that performs for one parade during the summer & during all home football games. Commitment includes weekly full band rehearsals on either MondayTuesday, or Thursday nights (depending on field availability) and performances as well as a weekly guard sectional & August pre-school rehearsal schedule. There is also the opportunity to continue to grow the colorguard program through a non-competitive spring guard performing group. Victor J. Andrew is currently looking for a new color guard director for the 2017 - 2018 season. The color guard director will assist the head band director in all aspects of the auxiliary unit. The individual should feel comfortable preparing exercises, techniques and routines suitable for all skill­ levels of students. The instructor will direct the unit within the Victor J. Andrew  High School Marching Band, as well as the Winterguard program. Specific duties include:



Assist in adjudication of new student  try-outs

Create a growth plan for the future recruitment and retainment  for   the program. [isl  Prepare warm-up routines and technique exercises for the unit.

Be able to choreograph and assist with the visual package for the Marching Band including, but not limited to band choreography and props, etc.

Choreograph, arrange and implement routines and techniques for the current and future growth of the colorguard

Have the ability to blend all skill levels into one successful unit

Establish clear communication between yourself and member's parents and help organize their efforts (fundraising, prop building, etc) in support of the unit

Maintain clear communication and cooperative working relationships with band staff and be able to effectively communicate needs/wants for the unit

Be able to effectively create and manage a budget for the colorguard program

Have a depth of knowledge in design and creativity to field a Winterguard competitive show within both the local and national level


Requirements Include:

Extensive experience as a colorguard director and designer for marching band and/or drum corps.

Extensive experience as a member of colorguards or winterguards.

Must be available  for band  camp,  rehearsals,  football games  and  all contests.

Robert Morris University is currently recurruiting for Color/Winter Guard and Band programs that are currently offered at RMU. Scholarships are available through these fine arts programs. For more information please see the information attached or contact .

TF South High School in Lansing, IL is seeking an energetic and organized guard instructor for the 2017/2018 school year.  TF South HS Marching Band competes in 4-5 marching shows each fall.  In addition, the guard could field a competitive winterguard program.  

The successful candidate should be available to host auditions this Spring and have experience in competitive colorguard (performing and/or teaching).  Pay can be discussed based on experience.  Band Camp is July 31-Aug 4Aug. 7-11.  The guard also rehearses one evening a week from 6-9PM, and full band on Thurs. nights from 6-9PM.  In addition, the guard gets a full 55 minute class period each day to practice.

Michigan State University is seeking a Color Guard Professional to instruct the 36-person Spartan Marching Band (300 members in band) Color Guard for the 2017 fall season. One professional instructor is already "in place" to continue with assigned color guard teaching responsibilities. This new position seeks a team member who will lead the guard program and will be required to design work, implement a “basics and fundamentals program” as already established, work with drill design staff, music staff and directors, and to oversee all nuances of the color program as it fits in the overall structure of the MSU Spartan Marching Band. Extensive work with student leader development is required for the potential successful candidate.

MSU's "State of Art" Winter Guard is a separate ensemble, and is potentially part of this hire if the candidate is interested.
