Evanston Township H.S., is looking to expand their colorguard team with the addition of a responsible colorguard instructor. Duties shall include for the fall, attending camp in August, 1 weekly sectional, 1 weekly full band rehearsal,  3-4 football games, and 2 band contests.
Interested candidates should have teaching experience involving rifle, flag and some dance experience welcomed but not necessary. Attendance for winterguard contests is mandatory with some rehearsals a little more flexible. This is a full stipend position for the year.

Hamilton Sussex Marching Band has a rich history and continues to grow and improve in 2017.



Instruct the color guard in equipment and movement technique.

Teach drill and choreography to the team.  Writing of choreography will depend on experience.

Conduct summer rehearsals, band camp (Aug 2-4, 7-11, 14-16 late afternoon to evening camp), weekly color guard rehearsals, weekly            band practices,              halftime performances (3-4) and weekend band competitions (5-6).

 Help continue to grow the team and have a positive experience.



Must have prior color guard teaching experience

Must attend all color guard rehearsals, marching band rehearsals, half-time performances and competitive shows.



Possibly the writing of all guard choreography will depend on experience.

SALARY: Determined in Appendix B of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.

FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: The Winter Guard is an extension of the music and performing arts programs at Grant Community High

School. This group competes against area schools in weekend competitions, performs at select home

games during halftime, and performs at the Winter Pep Rally.


    - The Winter Guard coach collaborates with the Fall Flags coach during the fall season to ensure that students have materials and routines to rehearse during allocated            instructional time

    - The Winter Guard coach ensures that Grant Community High School is represented in a minimum of two competitions during the winter season.

    - The Winter Guard coach attends and the Flags Corps perform at select home Varsity games throughout the regular season and playoff season.

    - The Winter Guard coach coordinates the team in creating and performing a routine for the Winter Pep Rally.

    - The Winter Guard coach facilitates at least two practices per week during the competitive season to prepare routines.

    - The Winter Guard coach ensures that the group is represented at the district’s 8 th  Grade Enrollment Nights at recruitment tables. The coach and student                  members must be present.

    - The Winter Guard coach will collaborate with the Student Activities Director to allocate activity funds for purchases of Flags Corps supplies such as silks, poles,        and costumes.

    - The Winter Guard coach submits a semester calendar of events to the Student Activities Director by December 1st on an annual basis.

    - The Winter Guard coach submits an anticipated budget to the Activities Director by December 1st  annually.

    - The Winter Guard coach submits a roster to the Activities Director by December 10 th  .


    - November: Establish tryouts and tentative practice schedule

    - December: Submit calendar, anticipated budget, and team roster to Student Activities Director begin regular practice schedule

    - January: Participate in both evenings of 8 th  Grade Enrollment Night, Pep Assembly

    - February: Participate in competitions and games

    - March: Participate in competitions and games

    - April: Participate in Championships

    - May: End of the year party, clean tarp and return equipment

    - Excellent professional communication skills with students, parents and colleagues
    - Work under the direct supervision of the director of bands during the Marching Warriors summer through fall season.
    - Organize and communicate with current and new color guard members and parents
    - Recruit new members through assistance with director of bands
    - Choreograph, teach and clean flag and visual routines for Marching Warriors performances
    - Choreograph, teach and clean flag routine for annual Variety Show performances in November
    - Starting salary at 0-2 years previous experience is $3,107.00
    - Salary increase based on more experience/consecutive years in District 207 as coach
    - Stipended position paid over multiple increments, specifics given during interview process

The Southgate Anderson Marching Band is looking for a Color Guard Director for the upcoming 2017 Fall Season. Our color guard has been very competitive in the fall and winter and we are looking for a highly experienced member of the community to help us continue in our excellence. We are the MCGC Scholastic A Champion from 2016 and have been a finalist at the Indianapolis, Mid-East Color Guard Championships, Mid-Atlantic Color Guard Championships, Pittsburgh, Flint among other WGI Regionals as well as a consistent WGI Semi Finalist.
We start spring rehearsals near the end of May, have weekly summer practices, Pre-Camp from August 7-10 and Away Band Camp, August 14-19. All of the dates would be mandatory for our Color Guard Director. There may also be an opportunity to continue working throughout the winter.
